Grade 6 Language Arts Homework & Classwork Wednesday, April 25, 2018
6.1 Classwork: Grammar: We continued reviewing for Unit 2 Test by completing Extra Practice for Lessons 15-17 with a partner. We then went over answers. Do not submit. Literature: Holes - Discussed and went over Comp. Qs. and went over Small Group Discussion Qs. as well. Quiz on Thursday after full review. Writing: Homework: None - We are working in class to prepare for Unit Two test in grammar, which will be next week. Lit:Holes - None, unless absent, see above. Quiz on Thursday after full review. Grammar: Classwork: Group 6.2: Grammar: We continued reviewing for Unit 2 Test by completing Extra Practice for Lessons 18-20 with a partner. We then went over answers. Do not submit. Unit Two test will most likely be on Tuesday of next week. Literature: Holes - Discussed literary devices of simile & irony. Reviewed for quiz and then took "Pop Quiz" on Chps 36-40. If absent, please see Mrs. Anderson to make up this quiz. Writing: Homework: Lit:Holes - None Grammar: None - We are working in class to prepare for Unit Two test in grammar, which will be next week. Unit test will most likely be on Tuesday of next week.

4th Quarter Literature - We will continue our novel study on Holes by Louis Sachar. Our novel study focuses on reading strategies, reading comprehension skills, related literary devices, literary elements, and writing skills.
4th Quarter Grammar - We will be completing Unit 2 in grammar with Lessons 17-20 and then begin Unit 3 with a focus on Verb Tenses, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Interjections, Conjunctions, and Difficult Words.
4th Quarter Writing - Middle school writing will focus on both the Writing Process and the Six Traits of Writing. In our 4th quarter, 6th graders will continue sharpening their writing skills while we complete our summaries. We will also strive to improve our conventions in answering our comprehension questions.
